All prescriptions should be picked up from the pharmacy the day before the procedure. Please bring all your medications to the appointment. Eat a light meal at least 1 hour prior to the appointment. You may take Tylenol or Motrin prior to arriving.
The procedure will be performed under a local anesthesia, likely with oral medications. Your nasal cavity will be numbed with anesthetic sprays, gels and liquids. Lidocaine may be injected to deepen the numbing effect. During the procedure, you will be awake and participating.
You will be able to walk out of the office as soon as the procedure is over. You may experience mild bloody nasal discharge, facial pressure or teeth pain after the procedure. Begin your medications as soon as you arrive home. You may take Motrin or Tylenol as needed.
It may take up to three weeks for your nasal and sinus passages to completely heal. It is important to wash your nasal cavity with saline at least twice daily. On your follow-up visit, crusts and dry blood will be removed to encourage healing.
